Prof. Dr. M. Yusuf ÇELİK

Education and Academic Background
He graduated from Hacettepe University, Department of Statistics in 1980. In 1981, he began his academic career as a research assistant at the Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Public Health. He completed his Master’s degree at the Ege University Computer Applications and Research Center under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M. Cudi Okur, and his PhD at Hacettepe University under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alaettin Kutsal.

International Experience and Institutional Contributions
He worked at the Justus Liebig University Giessen, Faculty of Medicine in the departments of Medical Informatics, Hospital Automation, and Biostatistics in Germany. As a result of these studies, he established—for the first time in Türkiye in 1995—the Department of Biostatistics and the Hospital Automation Center at his university. Since then, he has been actively working in the fields of Hospital Information Systems and Hospital Quality Management.

Professional Practice and Research Areas
Between 1995 and 2010, he worked together with the Ege University Hospital Healthcare Team on Hospital Information Systems, Hospital Software, PACK Systems, Revolving Fund Management, and Hospital Quality. He continues to work in these areas and has published numerous national and international scientific articles on these topics.

In 2007, he carried out academic studies in the same fields at Riga Stradins University.

Academic Titles and Editorial Roles
Since the establishment of the department, he has served continuously as Head of the Department. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1989 and to Professor in 1995.

He serves as an editor of the international journals International Journal of Basic and Clinical Studies (www.ijbcs.com) and International Archives of Medical Research, both published twice a year in collaboration with Justus Liebig University Giessen faculty members.

Publications and Academic Output
He is the author of three books. He has published 73 articles in SCI and SCI-Expanded indexed journals and 59 articles in national and international scientific journals. He has delivered 55 presentations and lectures at national and international congresses and symposiums.

Graduate Supervision and Training Activities
He has supervised two PhD dissertations and six Master’s theses. He regularly provides training courses for academic staff and research assistants on Medical Informatics, Hospital Management and Quality, Biostatistics, and Research Methods.

Professional and Public Service Activities
He served as a FIFA delegate during the Mediterranean Games held in Türkiye. For more than five years, he has served as a senior-level representative of the Turkish Football Federation.
