Deans Message
Dear Students,
Distinguished Parents and Esteemed Stakeholders,
Since its establishment, the Faculty of Medicine at Biruni University has embraced an educational philosophy that goes beyond the mere transfer of knowledge, aiming to educate physicians who are ethically responsible, scientifically minded, socially accountable, and deeply committed to human values. Since 2014, our Faculty has pursued a contemporary medical education approach that integrates academic excellence with professional integrity and compassion.
The accreditation of our medical education program for six years by the National Medical Education Accreditation Board (UTEAK), following evaluation by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Medical Education Programs (TEPDAD), stands as a strong testament to the nationally recognized quality and sustainability of our educational standards. This achievement, realized despite our relatively young institutional history, reflects the dedication of our academic staff, our culture of continuous quality improvement, and our student-centered educational philosophy.
The integrated medical education model implemented at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine is based on a holistic structure in which basic and clinical sciences are interwoven and active learning is prioritized. Our curriculum, enriched with Problem-Based Learning, Special Study Modules, and Good Medical Practice Applications, as well as Biruni-specific educational components, aims to foster critical thinking, clinical reasoning, research skills, and lifelong learning competencies. In alignment with the National Core Education Program, our graduates are equipped with the essential knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes required of competent physicians.
Scientific research constitutes a fundamental pillar of our academic identity. Through our well-equipped laboratories, the Biruni Application and Research Center (B@MER), and strong interdisciplinary collaborations, both students and faculty members actively contribute to high-quality scientific production at national and international levels. In parallel, clinical training conducted in real patient settings within our faculty hospital enables students to develop their professional competencies in a safe, ethical, and supervised environment.
The core strengths of Biruni University Faculty of Medicine lie in its qualified and dynamic academic staff, modern educational and research infrastructure, robust clinical training opportunities, and comprehensive student support systems. Academic advising, career planning, scientific project support, and internationalization opportunities collectively contribute to the holistic development of our students.
Our future goals include sustaining excellence in medical education, further strengthening our international research capacity, integrating innovative educational technologies into our curriculum, and educating physicians who are capable of assuming leadership roles in healthcare delivery with a strong sense of social responsibility. With our principled stance in education, research, and community engagement, grounded in ethical, scientific, and universal values, we remain firmly committed to becoming a nationally and internationally recognized reference institution in medical education.
Dear students, you are the most valuable stakeholders of our Faculty and the physicians of the future. Our greatest aspiration is that you carry forward your scientific curiosity, ethical sensitivity, and humanistic values throughout your professional lives. Dear parents, we wish to assure you that we share the same sense of responsibility and commitment in supporting your children throughout this demanding and meaningful journey.
As Biruni University Faculty of Medicine, we take great pride in advancing our vision of educating physicians who generate knowledge, share it, and place it at the service of humanity—together with you.
Sincerely,
Prof Dr Esra Kaytan Sağlam
